Marin County approved its second allocation of Measure A funds for agricultural conservation easements this year.

The Board of Supervisors signed off on a grant of over $1.36 million for the purpose of purchasing an agricultural easement over the 540-acre Duncan Ranch on Sept. 27. The Marin Agricultural Land Trust will seek private donations to match the county’s contribution and cover the $2.7 million total cost for the easement.

The $1.36 million that the county is contributing will come from revenue generated by Measure A, a quarter-cent sales tax first approved by Marin voters in 2012 and renewed on June 7. Ten percent of the revenue generated by the new version of Measure A is earmarked for agricultural easements.
