Gifts of Stock

Donating appreciated stock, mutual funds, or other securities is a tax-smart way to support MALT. You may avoid capital gains taxes on the appreciation and be able to deduct the full market value of the gift. Please consult with your financial advisor about the tax benefits and timing of your donation.

To transfer securities, please give your broker the following information:

Gifts from your IRA:
Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)

If you’re 70½ or older, you can make a tax-free gift to MALT directly from your traditional IRA through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). If you’re 73 or older, the gift also counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution for the year.

MALT’s information for your custodian or broker:

Have a 401(k) or 403(b)?
Those accounts can’t make QCDs directly, but your financial advisor can help you roll funds into a traditional IRA first.

Both stock transfers and IRA gifts often arrive without donor information. Please let us know when you’ve made a gift so we can acknowledge it and send a receipt for your records.

Please consult your financial advisor or tax professional about your specific situation.
