Year-End Fundraising Match Challenge is a Success; A Big Thank-You to Donors

January 25, 2022

We can’t name the long-time MALT donor behind an end-of-2021 challenge gift of $25,000, but we want to make our gratitude very publicly known.

Our anonymous benefactor proposed the challenge to inspire MALT’s supporters to match it and double their gifts in November and December of 2021.

Did our donors rise to the challenge? Oh, yes, they did, and so much more.

What we can say now is that, since July 1, 2021, our community has given approximately $3.2 million in donations toward our annual goal of $5 million to fund our work protecting Marin’s agricultural lands, including our conservation and stewardship programs. The match challenge resulted in more than $1.22 million being raised just in November and December.

Acting CEO Jennifer Carlin said she would like to convey “MALT’s warmest thanks and appreciation” to everyone who helped the organization meet the challenges of 2021.

“With people like you caring about and investing in our vision, MALT continues to lay important groundwork to protect and steward the land that sustains our region — now and for generations to come,” she said. “And while we celebrate our success as of year-end, we still have more work to do, more projects to collaborate on with our partners, and more money to raise to protect the remaining 46,000 acres of vulnerable farm and ranchland in Marin.

To all our donors, anonymous and not-so-anonymous, and our community of supporters, we wish you all the best in 2022. We can’t wait to share more soon about the impact your support is having as we strive to reach our mission of permanently protecting Marin’s agricultural land for agricultural use.
