Community Business Partner Spotlight: Clover Sonoma

August 14, 2020

The rich grasslands of West Marin are ideal for raising dairy cows. That won’t come as news to any of you.

But, did you know that five MALT-protected dairies provide milk for Clover Sonoma? In combination, these five MALT-protected farms equate to 1,548 acres of farmland where Clover Sonoma cows enjoy open pastures and a diet of fresh grass, hay and grains.

The Clover Sonoma brand, known for its delicious dairy products, dates back to 1916 in Petaluma. Since that time, Clover Sonoma has embarked upon a number of ambitious firsts, elevating dairy and industry standards. Clover was the first dairy west of the Mississippi to say no to rBST, the first to become American Heart Association-certified and one of the first to offer organic. In 2016, they became a Certified B Corporation® and have continued to use business as a force for good. Support of animal welfare, sustainability and community are hallmarks of their approach.

Clover Sonoma partners with 29 local independent family farms across northern California and is committed to sustainable farming practices, environmental stewardship and animal welfare — because they know that happy and healthy cows mean high-quality milk. They call this commitment the Clover Promise of Excellence program, and we at MALT couldn’t agree more with their approach.

MALT is honored to count Clover Sonoma among our community partners, Clo the Cow included!

“Community has always been at the heart of what we do. That’s why through our Clover Cares program we give back at least 5% of our annual profits to support the causes that we hold dear. By protecting farmland, MALT is safeguarding the local agricultural community which aligns with our vision to elevate community for future generations.”
