About MALT

Marin Agricultural Land Trust is a nonprofit land trust created in 1980 by a coalition of ranchers and environmentalists to permanently protect Marin County farmland. Some of the Bay Area’s most highly acclaimed dairy and cheese products, grass-fed meats and organic crops are produced on farmland protected by MALT’s 91 agricultural conservation easements. MALT has permanently protected over 54,000 acres of West Marin’s diverse mosaic of coastal grasslands, oak woodlands, rangelands and pastoral open space. MALT is committed to supporting sustainable management, climate-beneficial and regenerative agriculture in Marin County, including farming and grazing practices that rebuild soil organic matter and improve soil biodiversity to draw down carbon and improve the water cycle.

The Position

The Director, Strategic Partnerships and Sustainability is a member of MALT’s Leadership Team, working under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer and with MALT team members. The position leverages high-level, multi-stakeholder partnerships to enable MALT, Marin County farmers and ranchers and the partner ecosystem to move toward a transformative, inclusive, regenerative agricultural model that promotes and creates incentives for the adoption of sustainable, systemic solutions to climate change. The Director identifies, designs and implements innovative collaborations among MALT, agriculturists, partners and innovators that attract support from government, foundation, nonprofit and corporate partners, advance systemic climate change solutions on working lands and build a sustainable food system. The Director advocates at local, regional, state, national and global levels for climate-smart policies to encourage and support MALT programs, innovations and resilience and works with government agencies to drive resource opportunities to MALT, our partners and the Marin County agricultural community. The Director also works to increase MALT’s profile and network through participation in conferences and other fora related to land conservation, regenerative agriculture, climate resilience, carbon neutrality, corporate sustainability and support of solutions that advance regenerative, biodiverse and sustainable farm practices and food systems.
