As you travel from Olema to Tomales along the beautiful Shoreline Highway, you'll hear the story of the land and the people who have lived on it, from the time of the Coast Miwok Indians to present-day ranchers who are carrying on a 150-year old tradition of family farming. You can download this GPS-guided tour, narrated by Peter Coyote, right to your smartphone, then enjoy a leisurely tour of our MALT-protected countryside.
The tour begins at the Bear Valley Visitor Center in Point Reyes National Seashore (view map), and takes you 21 miles north along Tomales Bay to the scenic rural hamlet of Tomales. Along the way, you'll hear from ranchers, conservationists and community members who fought to save Marin's wide open fields and farms from the march of development, and who are raising their families to look after the land in the future.
A portion of proceeds benefits MALT's work to save family farms and ranches in Marin County.
